Whazzup? January 6, 2009 Eugene E. Conrad (Berkshire, NY United States) If you've ever wondered if there's really a connection between the Bible and "real" life, here's your answer. The author makes sense of current events in the light of scriptural prophecy. A must read for both fundamental Christians and unbelievers as well(if you're not afraid to hear what others believe). The author's analysis of current events and the ultimate future outcome makes sense. Well worth the price!
Excellent Book -- Get It! January 4, 2009 J. Savage (Texas) This book is a must read for anyone who wants to make sense of the current events in light of Biblical prophesy. The pieces of the puzzle come together in such a clear way when presented in light of God's truth. I plan on buying a copy for every member of my extended family.
It's the End of the World as We Know It...not. January 3, 2009 Van Rock (The Great Midwest) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
As so many evangelicals of his genre, Jeremiah has made millions of dollars writing books about what he believes the Bible means for the rest of us. Tell me, Good Reverend. How will you explain your zillion dollar home in Southern California and your luxury lifestyle to Jesus when he comes back and finds you basking in your wealthy spoils? His church, Shadow Mountain Community Cult in El Cajon rakes in a fortune from yuppie Christians who need a megachurch and a leader like Jeremiah to lead them because evangelicals don't think for themselves. As I've said so many times before to these mental midgets, the Bible is not your book alone to interpret. But apparently panic sells. And the rapture is big business. I just wish Jesus would come back and take these merry fools back to heaven so the rest of us free thinkers can have the planet to ourselves. Anybody remember Hale Bopp?
A Timely Commentary on Current Events from a Biblical Perspective January 1, 2009 David (Houston, Texas, USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Dr. Jeremiah has produced a book that covers many of the major prphetic events remaining unfullfilled in Scripture. For those of us living in these unsettled days, such a guide to events can be helpful and reassuring. Just looking about as things happen, one would be inclined to think that things were increasingly out of control; terrorism, warfare, natural disasters, famine, plus many other contemporary realities can all be causes for alarm. The Bible tells us that all of these things must come to pass and as we witness them happening all around us we are compelled to beieve that we must now be living in the times foretold in Scripture. This should be a source of joy and blessing as it would indicate that the return of the Lord Jesus Christ is closer than ever. It has never been more important to "walk by faith" than it is today. If you're looking for reassurance that God is in control, this is a good place to start.
Biblical Prophecy - 10 Things We Need to Know December 29, 2008 Pam Kumpe (New Boston, Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What in the world is going on? Now there's a question only God can answer, and fortunately He's given us some great clues in His Word. By reading Dr. David Jeremiah's book "What in the World is Going On?" I soaked up 10 prophetic clues that enlightened me about happenings in Israel, about the price of oil and offered insight from the books of Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Matthew and Revelation. This book is not one to sit down in one night and read through, but rather I made notes, looked at the references from Scripture, and discussed the concepts with my husband. And I quickly learned I need a better understanding of history in general as well as the Old Testament to grab all this book has to offer. With the constant reminder from Dr. Jeremiah, to watch, work and wait; I spent weeks relishing this book. It was a great reminder that despite the headlines, or how chaotic life appears; God is dependable and His Word is reliable. Did you know that from 1901 to 2007, a total of 777 Nobel Prizes and 176 of those were awarded to Jews. That's less than two-thirds of 1 percent of the total population, which means 22.6 percent of all the Nobel Prizes went to Jews. Why do I feel this important? Look at Genesis 12: 1-3, where God made a binding covenant with Abraham, who was the father of the Jewish nation. Israel is important because the fulfillment of God's covenant with Abraham will affect every one of us. Then the book takes me through America's quest for oil, to modern Europe, to Islamic Terrorism, to the Rapture of the Church, to seeing if America has a role in prophecy, to the Antichrist, to a new axis of evil, to Armageddon, to the return of Jesus the King. I will keep this book handy, to re-read the chapters and to soak up more information, statistics and details. There is so much to absorb, one reading is not enough for this type of book. It was hard journey for me, in that I found myself ignorant of what is really going on in the world. It was a great reminder that I should strive to understand more of God's prophetic messages in His Word. Dr. Jeremiah summed it up nicely when he said, God intends for people to recognize Him as the Lord God of heaven, whose name is holy, whose glory fills the universe, and whom men must recognize as sovereign if they are to find the peace and joy He desires for His people. (See page 185). I highly recommend this book. Dr. Jeremiah takes the current events and shows how they connect to Bible prophecies. So much information, yet he writes the details in a way even I can understand them. And no, I won't lend this book out, I expect to read it again soon.
