4 out of 5 stars Great cartoons (mostly)   April 19, 2002

Here is a list of the cartoons with year, and director. For descriptions on the individual cartoons themselves, read the other reviews on this page.
A Lad in His Lamp, 1947, R. McKimson
Knight Mare Hare, 1955, C. Jones
The Windblown Hare, 1948, R. McKimson
Rabbitson Crusoe, 1955, F. Freleng
Rabbit Hood, 1947, C. Jones
A Witch's Tangled Hare, 1959, Abe Levitow

I think this video collection is mostly great because there are many funny cartoons in it. "A Lad in His Lamp" is one of my alltime favorites! I've seen it several times over the years, and I still get a good yuk out of it. In fact, I bought this video just for that cartoon alone (yea, it' that good.) The other cartoons are good, but grow old after watching them a few times.

I have seen many, many Bugs Bunny cartoons in my time, and in my personal opinion, the best, funniest, most wise cracking ones were produced during 1944 and 1947. The later ones, especially in the 1950's, redo old gags found in earlier 1940's cartoons, and the well of creativity and funniness seemed to go a little dry. I do admit that there were some funny 1950's cartoons but they are few and far between. If you have the opportunity to watch ones from the mid-forties, they don't get any better than that!

A Bugs Bunny video to see that has all 1940's cartoons in it is:
"Bugs Bunny Classics, Special Collector's Edition". Also, the video titled, "Bugs and Daffy, The Wartime Cartoons" is a great one also. Hope this helps!

5 out of 5 stars A Rabbit's Tale   November 24, 2001

Bugs bunny has always been very dynamic through the stories that have been created. In this collection, it follows suit. All the cartoons showcase Bugs as if he was in each of the tales. Everything from Three Little Pigs (The Wind Blown Hare), to Knight Mare hare, by my favorite director Chuck Jones (based upon A Connecticut Yankee in King arthur's Court. Also similarly made for Bugs Bunny in King Arthur's court back in 1977.)

This deals with a lot of Rabbit's Tales that are truly magnificant in this mix. I've been collecting cartoon videos for years, and this was one of the first collections I've bought. I truly recommend this for any buff on that wabbit.

5 out of 5 stars Not just for the kids!   April 29, 1999

Outstanding selection of Warner Bros. classics. Especially "A-Lad-in-his-Lamp" and the spin-off of "The Three Pigs." Not only will the kids love this one, but the sophisticated humor is sure to give the "adults" some good belly-laughs at jokes that were probably missed when they were kids! They just don't mak'em like this anymore!

5 out of 5 stars Some of Bugs Bunny's BEST cartoons - not the lame b&w type   February 7, 1999
5 out of 5 found this review helpful

The six original cartoons are as you remember seeing them as a child. There are five which anyone versed in classic bugs bunny would know - A Lad in His Lamp -with Jim Baccus style Mel Blanc, Knight mare hare (spoof on Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court), The Windblown Hare (three little pigs/Red riding hood spoof, Rabbitson Crusoe (Yosemite Sam stranded and trying to cook rabbit stew), rabbit hood - bugs trying to get away from the sheriff of Knottingham with the cameo appearance of Eroll Flynn, and the last, virual unkown A Witch's Tangled Hare, with witch Hazel trying to cook bugs.

Of the thrown together cartoon tapes, this is a very good one - unlike many which Warner Bros. no doubt gave the right to reproduce since the cartoon storyline or underlying adult humor is lame in them.
