Santa Suits June 27, 2008 John W. Mccall (St. Petersburg, FL United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you are one of the people who love Christmas, this is for you. In addition to the cast of well known actors, it offers a variety of sub plots all centered around a costumer with a knack of supplying just the right advise with the Santa Suits he offers. All in all, a heartwarming stroll through a hectic, yet happy time.
How do you get someone to release this classic to DVD? July 17, 2007 R. E. Slain (IL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
There so few Christmas movies that are truly considered "classsic" Christmas movies compared to all of those made over the years. This charming movie is on my top 20 list. This to me is one of the most under-rated ones and it is a true shame that this isn't aired on TV any longer. And for all of the fans of this movie it is also a shame it hasn't been remastered and put onto DVD. I've had this movie on VHS for years but sadly the tape has gone bad and over the years as in most homes these days, VHS players are obsolete. It is a charming and enchanting story. Who would have ever dreamed that Fred Astaire could pull off playing Santa? But once he has the costume on he pulls you back to childhood and it just gives you nothing but pure joy when you see him. While the clothes are dated the individual stories are timeless. Please please can't someone give us a chance to share it with a new generation and put it on DVD???!?!?!
All time favorite Christmas movie December 17, 2006 Stephanie Daily (Minneapolis, MN United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I first saw this movie several years ago and then it was shown on TV every year for the next few years. We have definitely gone downhill from then. The current shows are worthless and show no imagination or charm. Fred Astaire was at his best in this charming show. He shows us what the true spirit of Christmas is. I try to watch this every year but I'm afraid one of these years my videotape will break! Please, someone, issue this on DVD!

I, too, liked this movie. I agree with the other person that is should be made available on DVD.
This Underrated and Underappreciated Christmas Movie Is Cute And Should Be On DVD! October 13, 2005 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I saw The Man In The Santa Clasu Suit for the first time last December of 2004 and I really liked it and thought it was cute and charming. The movie has three segments and stars Fred Astaire as Santa Claus who appears to be masquerading as several different people, a jeweler, a costume store owner, a cop, etc. In each segmet 3 different men go into the costume store in which they all buy Santa suits. One guy is played by the guy who played Radar in the classic TV MASH, Gary Borgdoff? Sorry, I don't know how to spell his last name. He plays a guy who is in love with his best friend and neighbor who is a beautiful fashion model but also interested in her is a jet setting millionare. Another segment has Burt Convy as a busy man who works for a very demaning politician and his work takes him away from is wife and young son who is beginning to get angry at his Dad for broken promises. And Another segement has a man who was once a successful chef and is played by John Byner who has fallen on hardtimes and is now an alcoholic and homeless, and after he finds the gun that some crooks had used in a robbery and thrown out but he is now being chased by the crooks and breaks into the house of a wealthy couple played by Harold Gould and Nanette Fabray and tries to rob them and also in the ouse is the couples bratty grandchildren and their butler (who if I remember correctly was also their nephew) he tries to rob them so he can get money to get out of town and away from the dangerous criminals who are after him but the man and his wife realize that he isn't really a bad guy and is a sad broken, damaged man and that desperation made him try to rob them and they try to help him. This couple played by Nannette Fabray and Harold Gould are very funny when they keep breaking into song and dance. It seems they are ex-Vaudville entertainers who just can't forget their days as a successful Vaudville act! this is a cute Christmas movie and I liked all of the segments but epsecially the one with Burt Convy and the one with Harold Gould and Nanette Fabray and I wish this movie was on DVD!
