Product Description
Audiophiles have known for years that the power coming through the AC line is full of interference that degrades audio reproduction. With today's digital circuitry and especially digital video, polluted AC power can cause poor quality sound and pictures. The Monster Power HTS 2600 MKII filters out electrical line noise, and protects sensitive Home Theater components that can be easily damaged from the surges and spikes common with AC power. Patented Monster Clean Power filter circuitry stops most electrical line noise that goes right through ordinary surge protectors, and Stage 2 v.2.1 also prevents noise generated by one A/V component from affecting another. Two isolated filters optimized for audio and video, plus a high-current filter for your power amplifier, provide excellent AC powerline noise rejection. Unlike many simpler surge protectors that rely entirely on metal oxide varistors (MOVs) for surge protection, exclusive Monster T2 electronic circuitry completely disconnects power for 15-seconds when it senses a voltage swell coming. This protects the MOVs from blowing out whenever there's a problem. T2 also protects from severe under-voltage sags that can damage your equipment. With Monster Tri-Mode circuitry you not only get comprehensive power protection, you're also alerted of what's going on with audible alarm and visual status indicator lights. With the ability to absorb up to 5750 Joules of electrical surge, and the microprocessor-based T2 Circuitry re-connecting your home theater components only after danger has passed, you can rely on the HTS 2600 MKII to keep your system protected. Monster has also included convenient component-assigned color-coding with matching power cord labels for easy identification. It's also rack-mountable for easy integration, and can be remote controlled for convenient operation. For superior performance, protection, and power conditioning, choose the Monster HTS 2600 MKI

Amazon.com Product Description
The fact is, analog audio equipment is sensitive to a different type of noise than video, just as video is sensitive to a different type of noise than digital, and so on. In the past, manufacturers have used filters to combat the problem of noise introduced via power sources. Unfortunately, the filters were not optimized to attenuate at the different frequencies that are unique to digital, analog audio, and video realms. Products that managed to deliver truly cleaner AC power were thousands of dollars in price, out of reach for most people. Enter Head Monster Noel Lee. An uncompromising audiophile, Lee joined forces with Richard Marsh, the world's foremost expert on AC power, to develop affordable solutions to AC power problems. The result? Monster Clean Power.

More Than Just Surge! -Monster Clean Power
The following overviews of Monster's isolated, specially tuned Clean Power filters demonstrate the methodology behind Clean Power's development. The higher the Clean Power stage, the more advanced the noise filtration. The more advanced the noise filtration, the higher the level of component-to-component isolation.

  • Isolated Clean Power Digital Filters
Optimized to reduce noise generated by digital equipment digital filters isolate digital components from connected analog audio and video components for maximum rejection of interference.
  • Isolated Clean Power Video Filters
Optimized to reduce noise generated by video equipment, video filters isolate video components from connected digital and analog audio components for maximum rejection of interference.
  • Isolated Clean Power Analog Audio Filters
Optimized to provide maximum noise rejection for sensitive analog audio components, audio filters isolates audio components from connected digital and video components for maximum rejection of interference.
  • Isolated Clean Power Ultra-High Current Filter
Optimized for maximum noise rejection, ultra-high current filters provide maximum current to high power components such as surround sound amplifiers.
  • Reference Home Theater Power
Monster PowerCenters also offer the most comprehensive home theater system protection available, featuring higher joule ratings for faster acting, full capacity surge protection. Monster's Multiple SurgeGuard and Tri-Mode Circuitry instantly detects any voltage surge or spike and immediately suppresses it before it can reach your components. And, for your total peace of mind, the latest generation of Monster Home Theatre Reference PowerCenters come with higher Connected Equipment Guarantees (CEGs).

Unlike other surge protectors, the PowerCenters' ultra low-loss RF circuitry provides maximum protection with virtually no signal loss, especially important with the advent of HDTV. In addition, all PowerCenters display current draw and voltage.

Monster recognizes that convenience is vital, too. The PowerCenters feature component-assigned color coding with matching power cord labels for easy identification, and all are rack mountable, for easy integration into custom installed rack mount systems.

Get All The Performance You Paid For
With Monster Power's Home Theatre Reference PowerCenters, you'll get the best possible audio and video performance from your home theater system.

5 out of 5 stars Monster HTS 2600 MKII PowerCenter   May 9, 2008

Great Product. Works and looks great. A welcome addition to my set up. If the AV receiver is the brains then this is the central nervous system. And I don't have to be nervous about nasty power surges, spikes, lightening storms, power outages, etc. The Monster 2600 provides a feeling of security for my costly Home Theatre gear. I know there are other alternatives out there, but for me I am very glad I made this purchase and would highly recommend this product.

4 out of 5 stars Good Product for the Price   December 30, 2007

The HTS 2600 MKII is a good product for the price($184 @ Amazon). I am not convinced that the "filtering" of clean current is that important in an area that has a modern power grid. However, the two major advantages that make it worth while are: (1) Provides excellent power surge protection for my $6K HTS investment; (2) Provides plenty of power outlets, coaxial cable outlets to organize the spiderweb of cables for HDTV, X-Box, DVD, VCR, AV Reciever, Sat/DVR with room to spare. Original HTS was DOA, but didn't realize it within 30-days since I was awaiting for other components. Amazon still exchanged it .. Thanks a million!

    5 out of 5 stars Monster 2600 MKII   December 17, 2007
Ashwin B. Mistry (Algonquin, IL USA)
Overall a very good product to protect your home entertainment components. You may want to consider the model above the 2600 as it has a digital video filter on the power supply for the HDTV (not sure what difference, if any, a digital video filter would make for the HDTV). Labels are convenient for future plugging and unplugging. Arrived on time and packaged properly. No issues.

4 out of 5 stars Nice Surge, but don't expect miracles   December 11, 2007

THis is a decent surge protector, but don't expect it to turn sd to hd - remember this is under 2hund bucks. Koo koo la is either a cynic or a monster brand competitor. How much did you pay for your "audiophile" system??? Son, my master bedroom's HT cost at least 3-4 times that, course you probably still shop at worst buy for your gear. I would take old kookoo's expert review with a grain of salt. When buying a component like this for your system you need to devise a list in your head (kookoo you better write this down though). Why do you think you need this, what are you trying to prevent, and how much do you have invested in your setup. Because afterall, this is sort of like an insurance policy for your gear. Rule of thumb, you probably don't want to spend more than 5-7% of the entire cost of your (ac powered) HT components (don't count labor koo). Features beneficial to upper echelon system's (koo go ahead and skip down a few lines) would include the basics like line filtering and surge, but you may want voltage regulation or twin transformers (for digital and analog). And if you live in a area with dirty power, lightning, etc these are invaluable. Look, i've dumped literally thousands of dollars on stupid monster products, and I wish they were a gimmick. But i don't really want to take chances with expensive equipment. Lastly, i would like to note that monsters stuff is amazingly durable and does what it says it will in under the most extreme conditions. Example: i've got an old 2500 stage two power strip out in the garage connecting up my laptop and 46" samsung (yeah it's 120hz, whats up koo). I've sort of made it into the game room, you know; epoxied floors, stainless steel cabinets, in wall 2.1 system (MB Quart and JL contractor series), auto faucet/sink (like in a lowes rest room), slat wall, pool table w/ butterfly 7/8" table tennis top.... you know what i;m getting at. Anyways, i've got a lot of new friends now (i was pretty much a loser before) and the place gets dirty right? So i hose it out twice a week (cuz you know i slapped on the waterproof baseboards, casing, etc). Well, two different times i accidentally hosed off my monster powercenter (which pretty much shut down shop). I'm not exaggerating when I say I had everything all plugged back into it the very next day and working fine. TWICE! Most other products - if their good - will sacrifice themselves before letting the line destroy the products. But this monster surge from freaking '99 just takes a hosing like koo in an amazon review. peace nuggzzzz

4 out of 5 stars Great Looking Surge Protector....   December 2, 2007
    E. Carne (Atlanta, GA)
I bought this surge protector to protect my Samsung 58 inch plasma and all the components I have with it. When i purchased the Samsung 58 the guy at circuit city told me that with a 1080p monitor of that size I would need something like the Monster 2600 to regulate the power and keep the image clean. In my opinion he was full of it. I used an old surge protector for about a week until the 2600 arrived from Amazon. I saw no difference in the pic quality what-so-ever. All I could figure is that maybe if your house is 50 years old and subject to alot of power surges it will regulate power and image quality like he suggested. But with all the codes and regulations on any home built in the past 30 years this seems like a big scam. In March I bought a Monster 950 for my Hitachi 55' in my basement. I paid about $159 for it from a local best buy. What I've come to realize is that the brick and mortar stores make a killing on the cables and surge protectors. I'm a little wiser now and was able to pay a few dollars more to amazon for the 2600 to protect my new plasma.
The 2600 looks great, is a more than adequate surge protector, and it is a huge step up from the 950 I paid too much for from the brick and mortar store. Just don't expect it to improve the image quality of your tv.
