The First Alert motion sensing light socket turns the light onN when you enter a room or open a closet, and then turns it off after you leave. It combines the safety and security of a well-lit room with the convenience of easy installation. The hands-free motion sensor screws right into a standard, uncovered light socket, just like a light bulb. No additional wiring is required. The socket senses motion within 360 degrees and is ideal for laundry rooms, garages, basements, attics, walk-in closets, and stairways. Use with 25 to 100-watt bulbs. Not for outdoor use.--Bree NorlanderWhat's in the Box One motion sensing light socket

Works wonderfully, but one small blindspot July 16, 2008 ostawookiee (Winston-Salem, NC USA) I ordered two of these for my garages, since there aren't easily accessible lightswitches from all entrances. At first, one of them wouldn't pick me up when entering from this one door, but I rotated the fixture by about 10 degrees and then it was fine; so there IS a blindspot. I am loving them - especially when I enter the garage holding stuff, light just goes on automatically, immediately. The range appears to be great too, as I can enter from one corner of the garage, and the sensor on the other side of the garage (~30ft from where I step in) will activate.
So far, So good July 14, 2008 Internet Purchaser (Texas) After reading the reviews on this product I purchased 3 units. I placed them in 2 closets and a laundry room that previously had lights with pull strings. So far I am very pleased with my purchase. They have never failed to function properly. The only negatives that I can see are; you cannot adjust the time the lights stay on, and you cannot use CFL's with these units. Both of these issues were accurately described in the documentation, so they are only my comments, not problems with the units.
Three units failed in thunderstorm July 13, 2008 Bruce Fischer (Minneapolis, MN United States) I bought of these and installed them in the basement. The worked great for about a month. When a thunderstorm came through and the power went out all three units were fried. No other electrical devices in the house were damaged by the outage so it leaves me to believe these are very poorly made. Too bad as they were convienent. I also wish they worked compact flourescent lights. I'll send them back to BKK brands as there is a 3 three year warranty. Very handy but watch out! July 10, 2008 Steven M. Bennett (Salem, Oregon USA) I have a room in the basement where I keep my computer and when I leave the room at night, the light switch for the main basement is on the opposite wall. With this item, I don't have to feel my way around anymore. But, don't use an energy saving spiral bulb in this unit, it will just flash on and off, then the unit will quit working.
WORKS GREAT!!!! July 4, 2008 Tar Bender (Mukwonago, WI) I own a small bar in a very old building. The bathrooms had old pull chains on them that don't work more often than they do, so the lights were on 24/7. This was the PERFECT solution!! They have been in place for about three months now and are working GREAT! Customers love them! I HIGHLY recommend!!
