Sanding stone for straight edge razor July 27, 2008 Joseph Pickett (Riverside, CA) This stone represents the coarsest level of stone to hone a straight edge razor. Videos on youtube were very helpful in describing how to use it. A finner stone is needed for a razor edge. This stone merely helps to quickly remove damage to an edge. The coarsest dark grey side is not recommended as being to harsh for a blade.
Excelent Sharpening Stone January 20, 2008 Ted Stevens (Seattle, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Quality thick stone has a coarse side and a fine smooth side for precision sharpening and finishing. Only thing I'm wondering how many uses before you should get a new one? Do they lose their effectiveness over time, or is their a way to refresh a stone, like grind off the top layer? or do they just wear down? I plan on doing a lot of sharpening developing my new product idea, and this is my first experience with sharpening stones. So any comments from experienced sharpeners would be welcome
It's alright November 29, 2007 Douglas C. Ramsey (Mt Sterling, Ohio U.S.A.) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I couldn't get a knife sharp with this stone. When it arrived it had a chip out of the side of it but that didn't effect it. It's probable the user more than the stone that makes a knife sharp.

I received my order within the time promised. It does a great job putting a crisp edge on knives and even scissors!
