Amazon.com It's finally happened. After years of puzzling popularity by way of derivative rock retreads, Mana has finally made the leap to full-bodied musical force on its first album in four years, Amar Es Combatir. The disc is a thoughtful, tender and often terrific collection of pop wizardry. It's buoyed by solid production work, a cohesive sound and singer Fher Olvera's commanding vocal presence. Mana has always drawn inspiration from the arena-rock vibes of everyone from U2 to Journey, but this time, the group takes those blueprints and creates its own urgent framework. It's a thrilling, insanely catchy collection. Everything on the disc crackles with energy, from winsome opener "Manda Un Senal" to swaggering closing track "Relax." In between, the Mexico-based outfit weaves memorable stories of love that are marked by pulsing percussion, driving guitar riffs and emotive vocals. First-rate stuff from a group who finally--at least to these ears--justifies all the fuss. --Joey Guerra
Album Description Amar es Combatir, Mana's 9th studio album and first in four years, was produced by Mana with the special collaboration of recording engineer Tom Russo (Audioslave, Macy Gray, Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton). Also includes a duet with JLGuerra.

Another awesome album September 15, 2008 Jane Smith (killeen, tx United States) I have liked Mana for years, but never really got into them as much as I have recently. I started downloading entire albums recently (rather than piecemeal via p2p) and this one does not disappoint. It contains one of my favorites, "Labios Compartidos", as well as several other awesome songs in true Mana fashion. While this is not my favorite album (that would be Cuando Los Angeles Lloran), it is great nonetheless and a must for any Mana fan. Even if you are just interested in Spanish rock, this is a good album to have. And for less than $10 to download, it's not too big of a risk.
DE COMO LAS CANCIONES DE AMOR MADURAN Y YA NO EMPALAGAN..DUELEN!! May 22, 2008 Sergio Rodriguez Heredia (san clemente del tuyu, Buenos Aires Argentina) GRAN OBRA DE ESTE GRUPO, QUE PARTICULARMENTE NUNCA ME ATRAJO DEMASIADO..PERO MUCHAS DE LAS CANCIONES AQUI PRESENTADAS DEMUESTRAN LA MADUREZ DEL GRUPO TANTO MUSICAL COMO LITERALMENTE..OBVIO..HAY EXCEPCIONES (AY..TIBURON, TIBURON..), PERO EN CONJUNTO NO LOGRAN EMPAÑAR UN BELLO TRABAJO DONDE LA MIEL DE OTRORA DEJA GUSTO A MUJER EN LA BOCA.....
An Absolute Pleasure April 9, 2008 C. Willms (Saint Paul, MN United States) Ojala Pudiera Borrarte makes my heart light up every time I here it. I haven't a clue what it's about, but it is simply a beautiful, almost spiritual song for me. I know some reviewers criticize Mana for not breaking any new ground with this album, I disagree. This is their most well rounded album yet. It highlights how versatile these fine writers and musicians really are. Every song was impeccably recorded and yet not so overly processed that I grew tired of it. This is not always true these days. Labios Compartidos and Somos Mar y Arena round out my three favorite songs. This CD has spent a lot of time in car - excellent driving music. Needless to say I highly recommend Amar Es Combatir whole heartedly!
Maná ROCKS! February 3, 2008 Anthony E. Baldwin (New Haven, CT, USA) El mejor de Rock Latina! I saw these guys first on Univision, and really dug the song "Labios Compartidos", after which I purchased this disk and several others (which I also recommend: Revolución de Amor, MTV Unplugged, Maná en vivo, Sueños Liquidos - all EXCELLENT recordings). Then, I went and saw them on this tour at the Mohegan Sun Casino. Awesome live show, too! They have since become my favorite among other alt-latina bands like Catupecu Macchu de Argentina, Soda Stereo, Cafe Tacuba, Julieta Venegas and other great acts. Maná is the BEST of them all. Great rock music, influenced by U2, the Police, the Stones. Beautiful lyrics (para quien habla español, para el menos), tasty guitar licks, a broad variety of music styles, from straight out rock, to alternative stylings, and music influenced by traditional Mexican styles. Great stuff! Escuchalo ahora!
CONSTANT TALENT January 30, 2008 Hector G. Becerra (Guadalajara Mexico) I have been a fan of Mana since the first album they released, I have seen them in concert in US and in Mexico. This is a great band and yes all of their music sounds similar or the same at times, however, they continue to put out great songs with great messages, I have all of their CD's and Amazon is great in the having the availability to buy their music on line. All of their songs are great and if you are a fan of Spanish Rock you will enjoy all of their music.
