Multi-platinum recording artist Barenaked Ladies will release Snacktime, a collection of 24 original children's songs through their imprint label Desperation Records. "Our collective kids now outnumber the band more than 2 to 1," explains vocalist/guitarist Ed Robertson. "We set out to make a record that would be entertaining for them … not strictly a children's record, but a record that children would really enjoy. Our kids are into all kinds of music. Making the focus about what our kids like was a truly liberating process and fun for the whole band."

5 out of 5 stars Fun for my kids, my wife, and myself on a long trip!!!!!   July 19, 2008
C. Tully (Boston, Massachusetts)
How is it possible that my three kids - all under the age of five - were content for the entire ride to Wells, Maine? I'll tell you...The Barenaked Ladies' new children's cd, Snacktime, kept us all happy. My five-year-old loves 789 and Pollywog in a Bog. My three-year-old likes that silly abc song. My 18-month-old just likes to humm along. For the adults, there is nothing prettier than Here Come the Geese or more touching than Bad Day. I REALLY recommend this cd to anyone looking for some fun, touching, witty, and smart music for the whole family!

5 out of 5 stars lots of fun for kids and grown-ups alike   July 17, 2008
Kendric Beachey (Kansas City)
My kids (5 and 2) love this album, and so do my wife and I. When the little ones request it in the car, or for wake-up music, it makes a nice switch from some of the other stuff. When I'm at work, the songs often sneak into my head and play themselves over and over again. With some albums that's not a good thing, but in this case it's pretty enjoyable.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome   July 15, 2008

I have loved BNL for years and now my kids are loving them as well. This cd has everything you would expect from BNL and more...witty songs, humor and jump around beats. My boys especially love The Ninjas and my daughter loves SnackTime. Buy the cd and you will not be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars Snacktime   July 15, 2008
Curious in Georgia (Georgia)
My sons (3 & 1) love this CD. My oldest is learning the lyrics and often requests the songs by title. It is enjoyable to listen to especially since it is not that super high pitched want to cut your throat kiddie music. The puns and twists on terms are hilarious and I never complain when my son asks for a song on this album. My husband got a kick out of this CD too. I highly recommend it, everyone can learn somehting new from this fun group!

4 out of 5 stars Great fun for the whole family   July 12, 2008

I've always thought of BNL as a band for big kids, with their catchy tunes, fun lyrics and humorous live shows. Now they've got one for little kids too! My kids fav songs are 7-8-9, Pollywog in a Bog, Allergies and Curious. My wife and I really like "I don't like". Overall, a really fun and melodic CD.

One small warning for Christian or other religious parents. Two songs you might be concerned with are (1) "Raisins", which says "people come from apes", which while technically not even what evolution says, may make some parents uncomfortable; and (2) "Crazy ABC's", a really great tune, but which does mention Ouija board, so you might need to explain what that is. Or just skip those two songs. The album is worth it.
