Amazon.com Product Description Keep your sports training focused with the stylish Timex T5E231 Ironman Triathlon multi-function, performance sport digital watch, which features a dark gray resin top ring sitting upon a metallic silver case and top pusher for easy access to split and lap times. Sport timing features include a 100-hour chronograph with lap or split option, 100-lap memory recall, 199 lap counter, on-the-fly recall of lap or split, and interval timers settable up to 24 hours (9 timers with countdown/stop and countdown/repeat). The training log stores workouts by date, with best lap, average lap, and total segment time, and the total run format/synchro timer maintains total activity time (less time paused during workout and overall running time. Other features include two time zones, built-in setting reminders, water resistance to 100 meters, and a black polyurethane strap. It incorporates the Timex Flix system, which activates the Indiglo night-light with a simple flick of your wrist. To activate FLIX, put the watch into Night-Mode by pressing and holding the Indiglo night-light button 3 seconds until it beeps. With the watch in Night-Mode, a forward "flick" of the wrist with a sharp "stop" will activate the Indiglo night-light for three seconds. The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function.

All good but for the alarm tone May 16, 2008 Douglas Lee (Yuma, AZ) All is good, except for the alarm tone. It's just to weak for my old ears, and yes, I don't hear well. I can't hear the alarm unless paying direct attention to it. Otherwise, the watch seem just fine. I like the large numbers because, like my old ears, my eyes are just as old.
Keep Your Receipts May 12, 2008 Richard Kraneis (Chicago, IL) Too bad I didn't keep my receipts.
This watch has buttons: recall, indiglo, stop, mode, and start/split.
But the most important button is mode. That's what controls whether you see or adjust your time, chronograph, alarms, etc.
For no apparent reason, my mode key "froze". (Trust me, there was no abuse on my part.) The mode key can normally be pushed, but I would certainly need to be an "ironman" to push this button in so that I can use it.
The reviews for this watch were great, I guess I got the bad one. Just keep your receipts.
great watch for swimmers May 9, 2008 Charles C. Schooler (San Diego) This is my 3rd Ironman watch, and by far the best. For swimmers, the lap button is raised and easy to find and push while underwater, and the extra large numerals make it easy to read. Also, the band is much improved.
Great watch May 8, 2008 Mark OConnor (Boston) This watch is awesome - does everything as advertised. Light weight - you don't even know you have a watch on. The display for the time is HUGE. haven't really had a need to use the flick feature yet, but it seems to work well.
Only minor beef with the watch is the strap - the loop that holds the end of the strap has a small tab in it, designed to catch one of the band strap holes. That works, but it can be a pain in the backside to get the strap off. I suppose I could cut that tab off with a sharp knife if I wanted to.
Excellent watch with great features and user-friendly operation! May 2, 2008 Charlie Ray (San Diego, CA United States) I have owned this watch for several years now and could not be happier with it. It is no longer my everyday go-to-work watch, but I do wear it fairly often for running, hiking, biking and other outdoor activities. I replaced the original stiff plastic band with a "Timex Expedition" Velcro fastwrap band for greater comfort and easier tightening/loosening ability. With the Velcro band cinched up, the watch fits snugly and comfortably and I barely know it's there while running, etc. Setting the time and alarms is extremely easy and user-friendly, given the large, clearly labeled and easy to push buttons, and the helpful on-screen directions such as "next" and "done" that appear over each applicable button. Unlike some other reviewers, I have no problem with the relatively subtle Indiglo light. Using the backlight, it has never been difficult for me to make out the time in dark or dusky situations, and since I don't rely on the watch to illuminate dark hallways, etc., I think the light is more than adequate.
