Amazon.com Product Description
Keep your sports training focused with the stylish Timex T5E261 Ironman Triathlon multi-function, performance sport digital watch, which features a silver resin top ring and top pusher for easy access to split and lap times. Sport timing features include a 100-hour chronograph with lap or split option, 100-lap memory recall, 199 lap counter, on-the-fly recall of lap or split, and interval timers settable up to 24 hours (9 timers with countdown/stop and countdown/repeat). The training log stores workouts by date, with best lap, average lap, and total segment time, and the total run format/synchro timer maintains total activity time (less time paused during workout and overall running time. Other features include two time zones, built-in setting reminders, water resistance to 100 meters, and a black fast-wrap strap.

It incorporates the Timex Flix system, which activates the Indiglo night-light with a simple flick of your wrist. To activate FLIX, put the watch into Night-Mode by pressing and holding the Indiglo night-light button 3 seconds until it beeps. With the watch in Night-Mode, a forward "flick" of the wrist with a sharp "stop" will activate the Indiglo night-light for three seconds.

The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function.

4 out of 5 stars Good for the price, but needs a better band   November 25, 2008
J. E. Dillon (Memphis, TN USA)
I have used this watch for some time and have no complaints. It is fine for basic timing for sports, including lap counts, timed activities, splits, etc.

I do wish the band was a standard watch band. Mine is still intact and seems to be fine, but I'm not sure how to replace it if/when it finally falls apart.

4 out of 5 stars Gimme a break!   July 17, 2008

Okay.... heres my take. Whah whah whah...the band is no good...the band is hard to put on...GIMME A BREAK! Hitting a hundred mile an hour fast ball is HARD...fastening this band, as long as you have 5 working fingers, is not as difficult as some reviewers would have you believe.

The watch is fine....it works well, has an easy to read display, has easy to use functions. I dont run triathalons...Im a fat guy...so the timer functions are less important to me...but the big numbers make it easy to see as Im reaching for another doughnut and its great for timing how many chocolate chip cookies I can eat in 30 seconds. In all seriousness...this watch is cheap, functional and decent looking. Only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because I find it to be just a touch cheap looking but for the money you cant beat it.

5 out of 5 stars Hard to beat for the serious athlete   June 7, 2008

As a runner, the one major feature that drew me to this watch more than anything else is the size of the digital display. I want something that I can see at arms length rather than having to lift the watch up to my face. And this is the only watch I've been able to find that has a decent size digital display in the middle of the face rather than at the bottom, as in most digitals, where the day/date/month share equal billing. With the T5E261 the day/date/month are nicely proportioned at the bottom of the face. When I'm running headlong into wind and rain I want to see the chrono. The last thing I want to know is what day of the week it is...

I've owned many Timex watches over the years, and have never had one break. They offer the most bang for buck and the best designs, IMHO. This is a reasonably priced sports watch that looks great and has more features than you could ever want including 5 alarms (daily, weekday, weekend, day of the week for each alarm setting), 100 hour chrono with lap/split, 100 lap memory recalls, countdown timer, multiple workout storage, 9 interval timers, one top pusher for lap/split recording, night mode feature (useful if you run during the dark winter nights), Indiglo night-light, nice black velcro fast strap and FLIX for hands free night light operation (though it does need quite a violent flick of the wrist to make it work, but maybe I've not got the hang of it yet)

A great watch that I'm expecting to last many years through all weathers and many runs.

Just one teeny disappointment was the colour of the face which appears white or light gray in the picture and looks cool, but is actually the usual pale green/grey.

UPDATE: The above review is from Amazon.co.uk which I posted last August. The watch is still going strong - and the band still looks and feels good after soaking up months of perspiration - as it's fabric I just wash it in plain cold water when necessary.

5 out of 5 stars Another good Ironman   April 9, 2008

This is a step up from the original Ironman for me. I am a Marine curently deployed in Iraq. I needed another watch since I handed my Ironman Triathalon to my son, which I had for 10 years. I like the dual time zone feature so now no thinking about time just press a button and I can see what time it is back home. Also the flix is awesome just set the night mode and just flick your wrist and the light lights up. The large number are great for just needing to glance to see the time. Also the new features on the stopwatch, interval watch and workout memory I will use with my workouts and run times when I return to the states. Great product!

4 out of 5 stars Best watch ever, worst strap I've owned   February 25, 2008
nozamadlog (Deep in the Heart of Texas)
I've worn this watch for a year now and still amazed at the functionality. This is an incredible watch. The alarm even can be set for everyday, weekdays, weekends or once. I would like to be able to put a better strap on it but I can't figure out how to get it off. It may not be replaceable.

EDIT: Now it's been almost two years. I had to replace the battery at 1 1/2 years (half than the advertized 3 years). The last 3 months before I replaced the battery the light was so dim it was practically useless.

NOTICE: It was IMPOSSIBLE to remove the back without removing the strap as part of the rubber extends over the edges of the cover. And it's very thick, so removing the band proved to be very difficult.

Still the functionality of the watch has me still recommending it and I am very hard on watches, getting it dirty while working in the yard, changing oil, washing my hands with it on, etc. It is built very well.
