The shock-resistant Timex T71962 IronKids digital watch is the junior version of Timex's vaunted IronMan performance sport watch, and it features a tough, durable case and easy-to-use timekeeping functions for your active youngster. It has an easily readable digital display with large, recognizable icons for the chrono, alarm, and timer functions, and a durable nylon Fast Wrap strap (with Velcro fastener). It also offers water resistance to 50 meters (165 feet), 12/24-hour time, day and date feature, translucent silver resin case, large, black function buttons, and Timex's unique Kids Loss Protection Plan. It's recommended for children ages 6 and older. The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function. Timex understands that kids often lose things, even their most prized possessions, which is why this watch is covered by the Timex Kids Loss Protection Plan. If the watch is lost, Timex will replace it with the same style (or similar if your style is not available) at the price of $10 for up to one year from the original date of purchase, with no questions asked. My boy received Timex Ironkids watch as a Christmas present last year. He liked it very much but the watch plastic part was broken in 7 months. So I ordered a replacement from Amazon. Several months later, the watch freezes up. I checked it and found three out of four buttons don't bounce back after pressing them.
My boy does like the design of this watch but two watches were broken in ten months. So don't expect it can last very long if you decide to buy this watch.

I have actaully had two so far. First one just froze about 8 days after my son received it. Amazon was excellent and replaced it. But now after about 4 weeks the elastic part of the band is all stretched out of space. Seems to be a real low build qaulity on this watch.

I was very pleased with this watch when it arrived. But, there have been several flaws occurring within 3 weeks. Firstly, the elastic in the strap is coming out. Secondly, the indiglo nightlight has failed and lastly the strap is not easy to adjust. I chose this model very carefully - from the many models available. I am very dissapointed in it.
It is a good watch, but not up to the wear and tear of an ordinary 11 year old boy.

Excellent watch. Easy to read and program. Only fault if any is the button to activate the Indiglo feature is hard to push. The watch was quite appealing to my 10-year-old grandson, however the "stopwatch" function was defective and would not respond to button pushing. Could just have been a fluke as otherwise it was great. Although it was disappointing, Amazon's response and immediate credit was not. Great job, [...].
