The pins don't fit November 26, 2008 Mark Turpin (Connecticut) I could not figure out how to get the pins to stay in the slots, which negated every other positive aspect of this tool. It looks good, has a nice case, feels nice to the touch, and comes with 4 types of pins. However, the slots have small protrusions that prevent the pins from sliding in securely. There were no instructions, also.
sucky. October 10, 2008 Melissa (OC, California) I was able to open one watch with this. The rest I fought for hours trying to get the pins to stay when i went to unscrew the back. don't waste your time with this. i'm ready to throw mine in the garbage.
Watch Case Wrench July 30, 2008 John T. Zipple (Mount Pleasant, MI) I was getting tired of using needle-nose pliers to get the backs off my watches, so this was the perfect product for me. It was mailed quickly and is as described. I would buy from this company again.
Excellent value for watch lovers! July 13, 2008 Randy S. Derewenko (Surrey BC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I used to take all my watches to my Clock doctor. Even though he never charged me for battery replacement, the trip was generally a chore although I miss the visits. This item allows you to do battery service at home with very little hassle. Just take your time and make sure you have the pins lined up and snug to outer case grooves. Bravo!
Decent tool fo the price May 21, 2008 N. J. Yasillo 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a decent tool and a very low price. It's obviously not a high-precision device, but used carefully can get the job done. I stress "carefully". If the tool is not adjusted to exactly fit your watch's cover plate, you're almost certainly risking serious scratches on the cover. The unit I received was only "OK" Both of the adjustments worked smoothly, but one of the pin sockets did not contain a detent ball, so that pin was loose and wobbly. One of the other detent balls was stuck and I had to move it with a screwdriver before the pin could be fully inserted. I put a couple of layers of transparent tape on the pin base and that cured the "loose pin" problem. However, the wood case is very nice. :-)
