Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The ProSafe Stackable Smart Switch family delivers the flexibility, reliability, and performance you need in an easy-to-use package. 24 ports of Power over Ethernet (PoE) make this switch ideal for deploying wireless access points, VoIP phones, and surveillance cameras. Expand your network as you grow your business by adding switches to the stack, as you need them. Two of the Gigabit Ethernet ports offer the option of fiber connectivity via small form-factor pluggable (SFP) GBIC slots for long distance links. Gigabit ports provide high-speed connectivity when you add more servers, or link in power users. Manage all ProSafe Stackable Smart Switches as though they are one unit from an easy-to-use Web console. Optimized for ProSafe Network Management Software (NMS100) and works with other SNMP-based management software. The popular intuitive, Web-browser interface offers the Smart Switch management, making it a snap to monitor stack performance, configure ports, even set up port trunks, VLANs, and traffic prioritization. In addition, the ProSafe Stackable Smart Switches expand on the current ProSafe Smart Switch feature set by adding 801.x security, SNMP v2c and v3 support, logging, rate limiting and Layer 3 prioritization. Advanced feature set delivers the security, reliability, prioritization, and monitoring capabilities small businesses need.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars This is not a bad switch for the price   March 9, 2006
T. Chung (LA)
I'm impressed with this switch for this price. The switch works right out of the box as an unmanaged switch, but if you need qos, 802.1q vlan capability, radius authentication, etc then you can do so through the web based gui. the gui is pretty straightforward, nothing fancy. The only down side is that the gbic cost more than the switch itself! So, if you have the option of stacking with copper for shorter runs then that's definitely the way to go.
