Amazon.com Product Description The Canon Pixma iP4500 is a stylish unit that boasts both a five-color ink system and a 4,608-nozzle print head to deliver wonderfully lifelike color, along with bold, laser-quality text. How does it work? The print head ejects precision droplets as small as one picoliter, resulting in a breathtaking 9600 x 2400 color dot-per-inch (dpi) resolution as well as a truly exceptional level of detail. Remarkably efficient, the iP4500 also will print a borderless 4-by-6-inch photo in only about 21 seconds. And you can store both photo paper and plain paper in the two paper trays at the same time, so you're always ready to print exactly what you need. The user-friendly iP4500 provides lots of options, so you can indulge your creativity. With this system, you get four dye-based inks plus a pigment-based black ink, the option of printing two-sided documents to save paper, and the ability to print right from your infrared-enabled mobile camera phone. Simply capture an image with a PictBridge-ready digital camera or DV camcorder, then connect and print--it's that simple. And to make sure your favorite shots look their best, the built-in automatic image-fixing feature via Easy PhotoPrint EX also helps ensure that each image is as clear and vibrant as possible. What's in the Box Pixma iP4500 photo printer, document kit (cross sell sheet, easy setup instructions, quick start guide), setup software and user's guide on CD-ROM, PGI-5 pigment black ink tank, CLI-8 (black/cyan/magenta/yellow) ink tank, sample media (five 8.5-by-11-inch sheets and four print alignment sheets), power cord, and print head.

pixma ip4500 printer July 3, 2008 whippersnapper (location unimportant) This printer is a class act. I spent as much two years ago on a well known brand name printer which couldn't compare to this one. I have had very good luck with ALL Canon products that I have purchased and am happy to recommend this machine.
Fantastic printer July 1, 2008 J. Corbitt (Birmingham, AL USA) This printer has met all of my needs. I just love it. Although I don't print a lot of pictures, I am printing recipe cards with a photo on the reverse, using glossy photo paper with a matte back (recipe on the matte side, pnoto on the glossy) Both the text and the photo are outstanding. I love the way that the paper can feed either from the rear (so it doesn't have to roll around a platen (or whatever it is called), and it has a large paper tray in the front, out of sight. I can "close up" the printer when not in use, protecting it from dust. And, it prints on both sides (duplex). That's a wonderful step up for me and it works very well. I also love the way it handles odd-sized envelopes and cards. It's one great printer for the money. I haven't discovered any "cons" yet. I have been able to print (and print well) everything I have thrown at it so far. I did a lot of research before settling on this printer, and I am not disappointed with my choice.
Printer with a heart June 27, 2008 C. English (Evergreen, CO) This inkjet printer is a workhorse. I have had no problems with it. The color is true and the speed of printing is good. Price is good. I print on fabric (I'm a quilter) and this little guy works great for that.
Canon iP4500 -- decent printer June 26, 2008 GRickM (Houston, TX) Other reviewers have covered the essentials of this unit. So far my personal experience matches the others regarding speed and print quality. Interesting features that weren't mentioned elsewhere include built-in image enhancement, pigment-based black ink for text printing, auto-power-off, and auto-power-on when a print job is started. A disappointment for USA users is this: although European versions of this printer include a CD tray and can print directly onto CD/DVD's, as confirmed by Canon tech support, a legal dispute in the US led Canon to disable (but not remove) this feature. For the adventurous, instructions for re-enabling the feature and obtaining the CD tray can be found on the Internet.
Great Printer! June 25, 2008 Patsy A. Jacks What can I say? I love this printer. I bought it especially to print photos. My previous printer was an HP Photosmart 1215 that I bought 5 or 6 years ago, which I thought did a good job. I realize that technology has advanced a lot since then, but there is no comparison between this printer and the HP. I have Windows XP and set up was a breeze. I always use Konica/Minolta photo paper, and the photos are crisp, sharp, with beautiful colors. Speed is amazing as well. Ink is less expensive than the HP also. I do not use this printer for everyday text (I still use my HP for that), so I cannot really review that aspect of the printer, but I just do not think you can beat this printer for the price of it and the quality that I have seen with printing my photos.
