1 out of 5 stars Amazon's confusion between MG-45 and MG-450HD   August 1, 2008

For the time being, Amazon seems to have a big confusion in its inventory with the two latest products from MediaGate. If you look for (or buy) MG-450HD (a wireless digital media adapter) at Amazon, what they will send you is actually MG-45 (a wired NDAS priced almost at half of the cost of MG-450HD). I purchased MG-450HD at Amazon and I've received MG-45's twice after going through the same number of exchanges!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to use this product because of this problem in Amazon's inventory. I've been a big fan and user of Amazon... I hope they fix this issue shortly... otherwise, nobody will be able to give MG-450HD a try! (The one star raiting goes to Amazon in this case... I hope I'll be able to update my review later :) ).

1 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS THING   July 25, 2008

I have been buying from Amazon for years. This is the first time I am writing a review because I am just furious about this thing. It's junk if you actually want to get media to it. It's great once it has media on it. The 450-HD does NOT support NDAS. The only way to get media on to it is through the USB port.. aka... you have to connect to it directly and copy stuff to it or through FTP. yes, FTP... they want you to use your internet connection to put files from your PC to your media player. And that's a nightmare in and of itself. Read the posts out there from people who are way more technical than me and you'll see this is not for the faint at heart. So once I got the thing I tried to connect wirelessly to it and it worked. But it does you now good unless you plan to FTP your files over or you want to stream radio in. Looking for the manual? gotta find it and download it cause they don't have one in the box.

4 out of 5 stars Too Bad No MKV Support   July 4, 2008

I have an MG-350 which works very well, but not full HD, no HDMI out and no SATA support. I expect MG-450 to be as good as well with support for all the missing pieces stated above but unfotunately neither offers MKV playability.

I ended up getting a TVix 6500 which is inferior in almost every aspect but supports MKV.

If MKV is not an issue then get the MG-450.
