A modern version of Capcom's Ghosts 'n' Goblins series, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory is one of those rare games that offers a solid update of a classic arcade title. This 3-D platform game delivers all the charm of its 2-D side-scrolling ancestor with current gameplay mechanics. In his latest adventure, Maximo returns to his kingdom to find it in disarray. His formerly trusted advisor, Achille, has banished the four sorceresses that govern the land and forced Maximo's true love to marry him. To save the day, Maximo must run, jump, and fight his way through five environments spanning more than 25 levels. Like his predecessors, Maximo must constantly worry about upgrading his armor and weapons. Play the game skillfully and you'll have a heavily armed fighting machine. Take too many hits and Maximo will be fighting villains in his heart-covered boxers. Graphics-wise the game is very strong. The animations are smooth, the textures are rich, and the environments are detailed. The sound is an absolute joy, the effects are humorous, and the music is fantastic. Tommy Tallarico Studios has done an excellent job taking the melodies from the original game and creating updated variations that are equally memorable. Although some will find the gameplay repetitive and many will think the boss fights are too easy, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory offers an excellent 15 to 20 hours of platform goodness. --Raymond M. This is an awesome fun filled game. It's a nice break from all these modern games where the screen is so crazy and you have to have 10 hands to work the controls. It's simple, great graphics, fun and entertaining. My husband bought it my accident and we had a blast playing it. Highly suggested.

This game is a bit repetitive and boring , It is worth renting on a rainy day , the graphics are average , I found myself getting lost and unable to figuer out ware to go in order to finish a level.
I say rent it !
Fun Game But With A High Level Of Difficulty March 3, 2007

"Maximo" is a "knight vs monsters" themed game. But it also shares some gameplay aspects similar to "Spyro" in that you need to find hidden items, collect money and defeat enemies while trying to achieve a 100% completion ranking.
However, while "Spyro" is suitable for almost any age or skill level, "Maximo" is a much more difficult game. The first stage of the first level is relatively easy, once you figure out how to save. But from there the difficulty level rachets up dramatically.
What I eventually discovered is that the easiest and most effective way to play the game is to constantly replay the first stage in order to build up lives, money and keys to use in the more difficult levels. This takes some of the frustration out of completing the hardest levels. But doing the first stage over and over can certainly become repetitious and it makes the spirit collecting aspect of the game nearly pointless. After many long hours, I finally "won" the game and achieved a 98% level of completion. But, I must admit, I have had to resort to an internet walkthrough "cheat" in order to finish the last 2%.
So basically I agree with the other reviewers that said this game gets difficult very quickly and is certainly not for everyone. But, for those willing to perservere, it can offer a fun and long lasting gaming experience.

This is what America should feel like, Maximo should be the wo-
rst GAME of the year 2002, THEY PUT IT A GREATEST HITS LABEL! OH
NO! They were right to put all the Sly Cooper, Jak and Daxter,
and Ratchet and Clank on a Greatest Hits label but were wrong to put this as a Greatest Hits, When there was many other better
ones that were ignored such as Escape from Monkey Island, Pirat-
es: Legend of The Black Kat, and Dog's Life. They were wrong to
put this junk as a Greatest Hits game.
The graphics: Horrible, Hell is not like this!
The Sound: BAAD! Capcom, you loonies, your game, this despicable
Maximo [...] is bad!
