Arrr, Ahoy matey time for some pirates October 15, 2007 Luke Rad (Novi, MI) If you ever played the original Tropico or any SIM's type games before you will probably like Tropico 2. Its supposed to be a sequel to the original Tropico, but its revamped into a whole Pirate Theme. I used to love Tropico, the music and the characters and wanted more. My wife got the sequel and we both like the scenarios. Its hard to describe the game to people who've never played the original Tropico. All I can say is this game has some good game play for many ages. Fun for adults and kids. Its animation and sound is great. I love the Mac version better myself.
Super lag January 7, 2007 Blanka711 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I bought this game a few months ago and was hoping to have a fun sim game for my PowerBook G4. Unfortunately the game is super laggy when you have a few pirates and captives roaming about. In the later stages of the game it got so bad that I had to turn all video options to low and still had the lag problems. I would have rated the game higher for fun factor but just couldn't enjoy it because of the slow motion capture effect that kept going on due to the lag of the game. Disappointed that this was the case, for the most part I had fun building the town and earning gold ect., just can't believe that MacSoft put together such a unpolished game.
Nice Diversion July 3, 2006 Jon M. Discher (Kittery, ME USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I had seriously burned out on Civ 3, and found Tropico 2 during my search for a replacement. This is a very cool strategy game that is easy to pick and play for both short and long periods of time. Easy to learn and difficult to master. Plus there's something cool about a game set in the Caribbean to waste time on a Winter day.
It's no Tropico 1 February 28, 2006 S. C. SCHUYLER (Hershey PA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
To start out, this game has no spoken Tutorial (which Tropico 1 does). System requirements aren't too steep. Gameplay is not as involving as T1. The bawdier elements of the game make it suitable for the middle school & over crowd. Overall this game left me feeling let down, and I really enjoyed the first Tropico. I give the game higher ratings because it is well done technically.
Argh - A good time indeed September 17, 2005 S. M. Overturf (Columbia, SC) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
After playing Civilization III at an almost addictive rate, Tropico II - Pirate's Cove is a breath of fresh air. And maybe a bit more challenging. There's a tricky balance to keeping your captives resigned and your pirates happy. The graphics are fun and so is a Pirate's life. The learning curve is higher than Civ III (it was for me) - there are so many varibles with Tropico II - a reason why I like the game. The ships a player gets to build are cool. I have had the game unexpectedly quit on me a couple of times and the auto save feature can get annoying. But overall it's a purchase I'm happy with.
