Security Suite June 30, 2008 Ks Family (USA) It is hard to pick a computer security suite. You have to have a enough memory and hd space so the security suite does not bog the system to a crawl. You have to get one that does not stop existing programs from working correctly and stop the crud that is fighting to get in every day. CR magazine rated it high and this one works on my Dell E520 great.
MADE TWO OF MY NOTEBOOKS CRAWL... June 27, 2008 R. Dubrow (Philadelphia) I originally installed McAfee on my brand new Vista notebook. It installed easily, consistently updated, and all ran smoothly, although the computer seemed to run rather slow. I attributed that to a sluggish DSL connection and decided to live with it. Then, a few days ago, I installed McAfee on my backup notebook which runs Windows XP. As soon as the Security Suite installation was finished, my CPU jumped to 100% and stayed there - effectively freezing my notebook. I quickly uninstalled it, and everything ran fine! Definite case of cause and effect. I then uninstalled McAfee from my new Vista PC and downloaded a free trial version of a different security package. My sluggish PC and DSL connection both started to work much faster than it had been when McAfee was installed. Also, as others have mentioned, signing in to McAfee is near impossible - it consistently rejects passwords, e-mail addresses, etc. The only good thing I can say for the product is the uninstall was problem-free.
Don't try to reinstall after a reformat June 26, 2008 Avee8tr (Florida United States) For various reasons I have had to reformat my desktop and laptop machines, both having McAfee Security Suite. Each time I have had to reformat and then reinstall McAfee I have had to do a different procedure. One time I was told by the online chat representative that the reason was because I have Dell computers. The first time I reinstalled McAfee I was able to get it directly from their download site. Since then, after two reinstalls, it's been a different procedure that had to be copied from online chat rather than from the download site which told me that my subscription was out of date. Each new procedure is more complicated and involved than the last and this last one involved me downloading extra files before McAfee would load. It's getting to the point where it may not be worth the trouble.

This an excellent product. It came with more features than I expected. It's a must have. The seller was also very good.
McAfee and poor service June 24, 2008 LittleSystemGuy (Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After installing the product, a pop-up window informed me that I needed to register it before I could receive updates. So, I attempted to register the product. At one point, I was required to enter a login password. I tried several times and several different passwords, and got an "invalid password" error each time. At that time, I entered into a chat session with a McAfee techie. He eventually informed me that the account with my email address was registered. Then, he discontinued the session in mid-exchange. Next day, I got the pop-up stating I needed to register the product. Because I had been told it was registered, I attempted to obtain updates from the McAfee site. Then, a message told me I needed to register the product. I attempted to telephone McAfee customer service, only to be hung up on - but after the correct amount of wasted time listening to McAfee commercials. Think I'll need to fix the problem - by uninstalling McAfee.
