Co-Op Campaign Mode, Call of Duty Style: For the first time in the franchise, Call of Duty: World at War introduces co-op play, bringing fresh meaning to “No One Fights Alone”. Co-op mode also features Competitive Co-Op that will show who is really the best player on your team. Enhanced Multiplayer: Call of Duty: World at War continues the class-based multiplayer action the series is famous for. The addition of vehicle combat with tanks rounds out the multiplayer experience, and features such as persistent stats, player rankings, upgradeable weapons, squad-based gameplay, customizable classes and Perks, have been further enhanced. The Call of Duty Experience: Call of Duty: World at War utilizes cutting-edge technology including highly-detailed character models, self-shadowing, environmental lighting and amazing special effects to deliver jaw-dropping visuals. Depth of field, rim-lighting and texture-streaming technology bring the adrenaline-pumping combat to life, while physics-enabled battlefields and fire that spreads through environments realistically immerses players into the harrowing and dynamic combat.

Not a bad game December 1, 2008 E. Rangel (Fort Worth, TX) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The game isn't a bad game and I'm not sure why people think you have to install Punk Buster, you don't. I clicked do not install and the game works fine. I get a comment saying the Punk Buster failed to initalized click the ok button and away I go. The game is now where near the quality of COD4. But all in all it's not bad.
Creepy game. December 1, 2008 bob 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I must say that I loved all of the other COD games but this game, with the dogs, and the organs is just plain creepy. The weapons are somewhat weak and the maps are awful...way too small. DO NOT BUY!!!
COD WaR - More buggy Software November 30, 2008 M. Melton 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ok I just fought 2 weeks of getting Fallout 3 to run.... COD WaR is no different buggy and I cannot get it to run. I can get it to run with no audio or not run with the audio turned on. Another pubplisher putting out porr, buggy software in the hopes that the patches will fix the issues. $50 blown today.
not a bad game, had fun playing it November 30, 2008 Straight Shooter (Central Valley, CA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have cod, cod2 and cod4. This one does belong to this same family, IMO. WaW is not as good as cod4, which is a great game experience, but I wasn't disappointed in this game. The graphics are really cool, and it was fun to go thru the missions--we don't play multi-player so I can't review that aspect of it. Sound is enjoyable--but I don't expect realistic sounds out of COD! The Medal of Honor series has better weapon sounds than the COD series. I did run this in "reduced" mode wrt carnage and gore, which I felt added nothing to the game and was out of place wrt previous COD games But the story line itself was pretty cool, the behavior of the weapons was much better than the previous CODs, especially the deployable MGs and the flamethrower and bazookas, but even the other weapons were more fun to use as well. The mission where you're inside the tank are not as good as previous CODs though, and the "squad experience" is nowhere near as good as previous CODs either. It feels like you're fighting on your own much of the time. I did get bit by the specs at first though, as it was misleading to say it uses the same graphics engine as COD4, which I took to mean, if your video runs cod4, it'll run this. I had an nvidia 8400gs which runs cod4 fine, but the framerate I was getting with WaW was comically bad. I doublechecked the card specs and found my card was inferior to the old nvidia 6600gt of the min requirements. I upgraded to nvidia 9600gt and the performance was fine. The min memory spec of 1 gig is also not accurate: I found that you needed more. I had xp svc pack 3 on a dual core AMD 64x2 4000 with 1 gig memory and could not start the Hard Landing mission and the final mission. Crashed on start. I upgraded from 1 gig to 2 gig and those missions ran fine. Bottom line is: I typically enjoy ww II shooters and I enjoyed this game. Definitely worth the money.
Hopes and optimism dashed! November 30, 2008 B. Bellows (Orem, UT USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have long enjoyed the Call of Duty series, though I missed COD3 since I'm not a console gamer. COD World at War looked to be the crescendo of the Call of Duty series: The gritty and brutal WW2 battlefield + the nifty and flexible COD4 perks system = should be great. I bought my copy on release day with hardly a glance at the reviews. I was excited, and convinced that it would be another winner. I tried both single-player and multiplayer, and found myself making excuses for why it wasn't fun: I wasn't accustomed to its mechanics; I hadn't earned enough perks and weapons yet; I didn't know the maps well enough. So I kept playing despite the malaise. I so *wanted* it to be a fun game that it took many hours of multiplayer before I admitted to myself that it was just bland. The weapons are dull and inaccurate. The tanks throw the balance way off. The maps are OK, but nothing special. The perks aren't that useful. The audio is lackluster (and impossible to echo-locate). Most importantly, it just isn't fun. I can have a great time on COD4 multiplayer, winning or losing. But even the best match on World at War... meh. Now I'm playing Left4Dead (and of course still some COD4), and having a grand old time. I wish I had my $50 back that I spent on W@W. There are so many good games I could have bought. I'm hoping COD6 will be good, but I'll be sure to read the reviews first.
