From Amazon.com What begins as a simple, bittersweet tale about a widower's daughter grandly unfolds into a rich, mythical adventure in Hallmark's production of Snow Queen. Based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, this story whisks viewers to a remote mountain town where winter claims a surprising number of lives, beginning with the local innkeeper's wife. Many years later, the woman's daughter, Gerda (Chelsea Hobbs), finds true love when her father hires Kai (Jeremy Guilbaut) as the inn's new bellboy. About one hour into this three-hour production, the mood turns rather sinister as the Snow Queen (Bridget Fonda) bewitches and captures Kai. Scenes of Gerda's search--through the lush temptations of each season personified--are interspersed with downright creepy scenes of Kai held prisoner in the Snow Queen's ice palace. Keen acting and smart direction engross the viewer, but those under 8 years old might not be ready for the repetitive themes of seduction and temptation. --Liane Thomas

perfect for a family christmas February 2, 2008 P. Lloyd i first watched this on tv as a two part production with my family its enjoyable and gripping, its worth watching and a great adaptation, hans christian anderson should be proud:P
Not all that enjoyable. May 25, 2007 Kenneth Scheffler (Canada) Considering that this movie is geared more towards children, I found the "Snow Queen" played by Bridget Fonda to somewhat to sexualized. Moreover, I simply found the stylized German/Danish village to be rather annoying. The feeble attempt by some characters to talk with a central European accent was pretty pathetic, and one character (Mina, I believe) sounded rather Scottish to me. And as has been mentioned in other reviews, the movie is somewhat boring, so much so that I really couldn't have been bothered to watch it through to the end.
Single, white, female... June 18, 2004 but's she's no Snow Queen. What a disgrace to Hans Christian Andersen! A horrible attempt at a beautiful classic. One star is too generous.
A must see film!!!!!!! April 10, 2004 P. M. Doherty (Ireland) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I saw the Snow Queen on sky 1 over Christmas and i LOVED it! I loved the Snow Queen i thought she was great and was played very well. Kai and Gerda are quite annoning and me and my friends Sarah and the Louise wanted to shoot Gerda and Kai sometimes. I thought the ending was good and liked the polar bear he was good too. I loved the Snow Queen so much that i searched the internet looking for the DVD suitable for my DVD player. I never had heard of Bridget Fonda before i watched the Snow Queen but she played the Snow Queen so well that i found what other films she was in and now she's my favourite actress.Dont just watch the snow queen watch other films with Miss Fonda in them too and see what a talanted actress she is...... but what do i know im other 13!

hello, its wonderful to meet so many people who have seen the film and like it,i love it too. i think ,the love in the real life will meet as many difficulties as that in the film showed, the snow queen is not a bad women, and the bear who loves her is great and full of tolerance.
