5 out of 5 stars OneRepublic has nothing to Apologize for!   June 23, 2008

Perhaps one of the best new bands of recent memory, OneRepublic breaks out with Dreaming Out Loud, their first mainstream album. The comparison that comes to my mind when listening to them, is to the Fray. Both bands have a adult-contemporary piano-influenced sound to them. As well, both Isaac Slade (The Fray) and Ryan Tedder (OneRepublic) have a very melodic voice which blends well with the array of pianos, guitars and keys.

While Apologize has become an instant radio-favourite, this album is jam packed with equally as good tracks, if not better than Apologize. In fact, I cannot even highlight any one track as being better than others. This is truly an album, in the since of the words, and definitely worth the money to buy. Songs such as Say (All I need)and Goodbye Apathy play with the hip-hop-ish beat present in Apologize. At the same time, Mercy, Stop and Stare, All Fall Down and Won't Stop lean towards guitars, while tracks such as All We Are, Tyrant, and Prodigal are more heavy on the piano-side.

All in all this album flows well and demonstrates the instrumental flexibility of OneRepublic as well as Tedder's exceptionally melodic voice and knack for writing catchy songs.
