A big step towards a better understanding of SOA August 28, 2007 Fabian Meier (Munich, Germany) 4 aus 4 fanden die folgende Rezension hilfreich
This book explains all important principles of a SOA. Whereas the principles are well-known, only few understand what the principles mean and even fewer can explain them like Thomas Erl. With the help of a detailed and coherent case-study all principles are clearly explained and one can understand the practical relevance of each principle. This book is on one side an introduction to SOA, as it helps to further understand SOA and on the other side it is a valuable compendium for advanced SOA architects and developers. The book shouldn't be confused with an initial introduction to SOA, as SOA knowledge is necessary to understand the relevance and the relation of the principles. It is one of the first books, which goes beyond an introduction to SOA and still provides theoretical background and not technology knowledge. The vendor-agnostic view of the author, his ability to explain complex concepts in an easy and understandable way and the depth of the book makes this book mandatory in every bookshelf. It helps to bring clarity and a common understanding to the area of SOA and assists on the way to realise the vision of SOA. Arisen questions when reading Erl's second book "SOA Concepts, Technology and Design" are answered and in combination a powerful tool to understand and to realise a SOA is on the market. Erl's books are part of a SOA series and everybody who is interested in SOA should look forward for every new book he is publishing. Each book uncovers a new area of SOA and answers important questions which arise when planning and realising a SOA.
