Unstable Studio 12 Ultimate September 10, 2008 Dr. B. G. Colvin I started with Version 6 and have upgraded over the years to the current version of Pinnacle Studio - Version 12 Ultimate. What a complete disgrace this program is. It is amazingly unstable as any browse on the web will show. A simple, short video consisting of stills and PAL video, together with some transitions and background music couldn't be rendered under any circumstances. The program fell over at various places and it wasn't possible to tell where things went wrong because the cursor on the timeline moves to the beginning whenever the rendering fails. I was actually having to video the rendering process so that I could record where the problem was and then try to fix it by removing a transition or whatever. The number of points at which the rendering fails are enormous and this is clearly experienced by other users. I finally solved the whole issue by uninstalling the Pinnacle software and using Sony Vegas - an excellent program which has given me no problems at all.

What the heck happened??? February 12, 2007 Doogy Howzer (Florida, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
After struggling with Studio 10.7 for a few days, I must say that I am more disappointed with Pinnacle than anything else. I have been their ardent fan and supporter for many years, having used Studio 9 for countless projects and loving it too! I was so looking forward to Studio 10 as I wanted to burn projects to DVD9. But my experience with Studio 10 had left me totally traumatized. One would expect that Pinnacle could at least be consistent in their track record. If their new release doesn't perform quantum leaps, it should at the very least work. Instead, we end up with a program that not only makes it impossible for you to burn new projects but also mangles up projects imported from Studio 9. Furthermore, it leaves footprints all over my harddisks at multiple locations. Pinnacle should have held back the release until they have resolved the bugs. They should have realized that users who loved their products would have waited, no matter how long. They should be reminded of the addage.........haste makes waste.
Pathetic, to say the least January 24, 2007 Srijanshri (Lancaster, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have given one star to Pinnacle studio software because there is no option for 0 star. The software is complicated, slow and corrupts genuine DV and VHS files. Even worse is the technical support. The email based technical support is absolutely useless. They kept on blaming my video card ( nVidia le geforce 256mb). Guess what? The problem persisted with state of the art new computer with 1Gb PCI Express video card. Stay away.
Pinnacle 10.7 still unstable December 29, 2006 Doug (Florida USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have upgraded to version 10.7.0.4245, and it is still unstable, and in some cases will cause corrupted video. I've installed it on 3 different machines with the same results. Tech support just dances around the issue - looking for reasons to blame the hardware or other software. I finally got tired of playing their game, and installed it on a brand new 3.4ghz dual core Pentium with 2gb ram and RADEON X1600 PRO video card (with nothing else installed) The problems remain - locking up at random times - corrupting video on "import DVD titles". I even have a short mpg file that clearly shows good video (in windows media player, and other software) and clearly corrupted after being imported to Studio 10, or processed with their TRex.exe test software
