1 out of 5 stars No ad blocking   August 28, 2008

I 'upgraded' to this from Norton Personal Firewall. Have now uninstalled Norton Internet Security as had trouble with pop-ups ever since installing it. The old Firewall does the job and no more ads! I understand Norton have discontinued the Ad blocking. Why??

Wouldn't recommend this priduct - waste of money.

1 out of 5 stars Beware if you add/remove hardware   August 27, 2008
Edda B (London, UK)
I have used Norton for many years, but this version has convinced me I will never use them again. The problems started two days after installing the new version. The software said the licence key had expired. After numerous calls to get through to support, I eventually succeeded and was told that I needed to uninstall, change the computer clock back 1 month and re install. This "fix" seemed to work. A few weeks later, with my new machine apparently working well, I decided to copy all my data from an old machine onto the new machine with Norton. So I put in the hard drive, and Norton claimed the licence had again expired. Connecting to the Norton site the key seemed to be successfully recovered. After copying all my data I removed the old hard drive, and again Norton claimed the licence had expired. This time it failed to recover.
After hours of trying, I eventually got through to Norton support and was told I had installed the software on at least three machines according to their records, and they were unwilling to discuss further. They suggested I was guilty of software theft. My only option, according to them, was to buy a new copy of Norton, and then they would help me with any installation issues.
Of course, I did have another option. And that is to take my business elsewhere.
So beware of offers that seem to imply you are getting a "deal" with any 3 user license.

5 out of 5 stars Norton Internet Security 2008   August 13, 2008

A trial version of Norton was installed on my Acer laptop when I bought it. I decided to change to McAfee since I already owned a copy, but it kept crashing due to McAfee's 'Hackerwatch'. I bought a copy of Norton and it has installed like a dream and is working perfectly. No going back to McAfee for me!

1 out of 5 stars So glad I removed it!   August 8, 2008

I had this software installed on my laptop and after many suggestions from my friends I removed it and installed McAfee. So glad I did that! The laptop is so much faster now and McAfee is not obtrusive at all as Norton is. I would not install it again even if given for free.
NB. My version of McAfee does not have a firewall though (as opposed to Norton) so I am relying on Vista for that! so far so good

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant!   July 5, 2008
Ms. K. Stapley
Have used Norton for 5yrs with no problems but this years renewal came around and couldnt access Norton web pages from AOL to download renewal, so what to do? Checked out prices for whole new package and Amazon the best by far. Received in couple of days but then dredding the actual update. Would AOL work afterwards and how many days would it take to get back online, last year with download renewal took 3 days!!! Well have just done the whole process including writing this review in 45 mins, WOW!!! All working brilliantly!! Did download uninstall tool from Norton first as recommended by other reviewers. Would advise any AOL users to go for it.
